following the rules - a RANT.

this is one of the only times you bloggers will see me SPEW FORTH IN ANGER. :) if you don't want to see this side of me, AVERT THINE EYES NOW!

i have issues with people entering cards for challenges when the rules clearly state their cards must be created NEW for the challenge.

i am beginning this post at 12:58 pm, according to my computer's clock. let's see what time it actually posts.

it's a moral issue for me, really, and maybe it's silly, but i think some people just look for all the challenges they can possibly cover with one card, hoping to win a gazillion different prizes. greedy, much? yeah, i'm not a fan.

so it's 1:03 now, according to my computer's clock. i still haven't posted, but i've read a nice rant. i try to avoid drama, but i also don't tolerate cheating, so i try to intervene as diplomatically as i can. didn't quite follow the sketch, tweaked it and made it your own? no problem, a sketch is supposed to inspire. i can be flexible. used the colours, but maybe threw in another colour or two, in order to make it work? i can live with that.

but don't try to tell me that you created a card for my challenge, when i have proof in my email that the actual challenge didn't go live until 6 minutes after you posted your creation on your blog.

egads. i have a headache, and i'm not in the mood for crap today.
go ahead, talk smack. don't play along with our challenges. you don't play fair, and you take the fun out of it for OTHERS, so you don't deserve to win anyway.

end rant.

and my clock shows 1:07 now, but i'm willing to bet the timestamp on this post will be 12:58 or 12:59. *wink* go ahead. try it for yourself to see if i'm lying.

  1. Oh I know it's unreal-I think some people don't even read the challenges they just enter!

  2. i've seen ppl enter stuff for challenges and when i go to their blog they have a list... no like a LONG list of challenges their entry covered... that's great if you can fit 20 challenges on one card... but really... is it necessary?

  3. lizzie totally says what I think sometimes. It seems like it would be such a HASSLE to get that much to work together! It would suck the fun right out of it. Its like they work too hard at saving time/supplies/ideas? No idea why. Well you handle yourself much better than I could hope to lovie! MWAH!

  4. Oh girl I hate that too! I have gone to a handful of blogs and see a HUGE line up of challenges they enter. So not fair! If they find something on their card that matches the challenge...they just HAVE to enter it and it's BS! I agree girl...I would be pissed too!

  5. Just checking your rules before I add my card. Aw, this is sad, but don't forget, you probably have entries from all over the world, as I post this it's quarter past seven in the evening... I'm on two DT's what bugs me more that all that is people showing us the SAME card for a different challenge, say, posting it first on their blog one week and then later on Splitcoasters or even on their blog again! Mind you, if I see a fabulous card and I know it will fit nicely into one of the challenges I will say so, regardless if it's been posted a few minutes earlier than the challenge. Happy Crafting!

  6. Okay...I confess...I did this once recently, HOWEVER, I did check and the challenge DID NOT specifically state that it had to be made FOR the challenge only. Please don't hate me. Although, I'm with the others who mentioned the long lists of challenges ALL covered with one little card. Grrr!

  7. I see it all the time. The worst is when the page or card was made weeks beforehand and they still link it up and (obviously) the challenge isn't even mentioned in the post. Drama!

  8. Applauding U for speaking your mind!! :):):):):):) On FAVE THINGS i don't tell peeps it has to be new for our challenge...nor does what U create have to be just for our challenge....I just want peeps to play along...so I take all entries...I guess that's just the way I look at it! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

  9. Ah -- sometimes it's good to speak the mind. And I'm so naive I guess -- I wouldn't think of entering several challenges with one entry ????? But good thing you check. :) Keep up the good work == your blogs are wonderful! Even though I can't always enter -- I'm a faithful reader. :)

  10. I'm sorry. I do enter a lot of challenges with one card but I first find the challenges I want to enter and then I make a card that can fits the challenges I chose. I'm in it for the blinkies not the prizes. What I hate is people entering more then two cards into a challenge. Really? On Fussy and Fancy we had several ladies enter 15+ cards. Come on. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and relax.

  11. I am like Jennifer, I have a card in mind and I look at the different challenges and see what I can do to fit as many challenges as I can. Why? I just like to, but it is always a new one!

  12. I totally agree with you! I have a hard time making a card for one challenge, let alone more than one, lol! But I understand totally,
some people try to enter a card in a gazillion challenges!

  13. I must admit I love combining challenges too, but it has to be a new creation.

PS - It's your blog, you can spew forth whenever you like xx

  14. You go girl! I TOTALLY agree with you! Personally, I'm in this (craft) because I love to make cards and create. If I enter a challenge, I make one card for THAT challenge. If only I had enough time to surf the net for hours and hours to find 15 challenges that fit my one card....*sigh*...I'd rather be crafting! :)

  15. ah yes. this is QUITE a familiar scenario to me from the good old caardvarks days. in fact, it's the one aspect of the gig i DO NOT MISS at all!!! :)

really, i s'pose, we should feel sorry for folk who aren't crafty for the fun & thrill & inspiration of it, but just for the praise and prizes. 'cause i think there is something missing when that is the case! sigh. (doesn't mean you should have to prop them up tho...feel free to delete their links, missus; they will get the idea eventually!) :)

  16. Gotta agree with you there... Sure, maybe once you see two challenges on two different blogs that make you go "oh, I have the perfect idea combining these challenges!" and rush to the scrap table...
But people who seem to collect all kinds of challanges available at the moment and squeeze every little piece into their creation just to get more attention/bigger chance to win... is sort of lame.
To each their own I guess, but still. =/

  17. Hmmm.. interesting! I guess I never thought of it as being an attention wh0re. I think the most I have entered is 10 challenges. But let me tell you it is an exact science. I go through all the my fav challenges once a week and right down what the challenge is. Then when I make a card I refer back to my list. I see it as a HUGE, fun challenge! I didn't realize people thought it was in bad taste. I am here just to have fun and to be creative. Oh pooie Miss Orange - I am sad now :(

As for the time stuff - it is strange. I will leave a comment say around supper time but it shows up as a day later - computers, I tell ya ;)

  18. I so agree. This is why I rarely enter challenges...and when I do, I never enter more than two at a time...and try to follow all their rules. Your rant is well placed.
