SOME ODD GIRL CHALLENGES have begun!

JOIN US! :)

we've been SO anxious for this day to arrive, and it's finally here, and we can't WAIT to get the party started!

Some Odd Girl, in addition to bringing you AMAZING digi stamps, now brings you bi-weekly CHALLENGES!

today, we launch to the public, we show you a bunch of the FANTASTIC new images (33 new digis were released on Tuesday - CRIKEY!), and we offer up the goods for people who want to play along.

we'll have "Stash and Style" challenges alternating every other Thursday, and today i'm hosting our very first STASH challenge... SHOW US THE RAINBOW!

i couldn't wait to nab these little Mushes - they just SCREAMED my name and i think they were PERFECT for this challenge.... here's my "rainbow" card:

seriously? how flippin' CUTE are they? i used three of the four from the set, and what a happy looking bunch they are. threw down some BasicGrey paper from the Junebug line, my trusty Dymo Label Buddy, my fave Thickers, and VOILA - this happy Some Odd Girl card was born. :)

wanna play along? you don't HAVE to use Some Odd Girl images, but there's an ADORABLE freebie, and you could win a free digi of your choice, PLUS a brand spankin' new image that won't be available until later in April! this is Mae:

isn't she SWEET?! love the subtle Alice flavour to this image - we think she'll make a fabulous playmate for Kaylee. she's the slightly more sophisticate, demure of the two - Kaylee's pretty spunky, if i do say so m'self!

we'll also be showcasing two projects for each challenge that absolutely WOW us, and they'll get a blinkie/banner to proudly display on their own blogs.

so yeah! come and play! check out what the rest of the Odd Girls have done with the Rainbow Stash challenge today, and JOIN US! :)

the Dollies are BLINGIN' the challenge!

well then! i thought i'd have a chance to get back online last night, but ended up spending some fabulous quality time with the hubbin, which was SO nice! life gets so frantic, ya know? a bit of US time was definitely in order. :)

SO, i didn't get a chance to post about the new ELEMENTS CHALLENGE at Design Dollies! oh, this was a fun one, indeed! and i'm pretty sure we'll see lots of players, because i don't know a single crafter who's not into BLING...

we want to see at least THREE different types of bling on your creations. for mine, i incorporated four...

(CLICK TO ENLARGE - you won't wanna miss the FLOWER!)

1) yes, that flower. see that AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS crocheted flower? that was a very sweet gift from the very lovely Terry (she sent me a whole bunch of these babies, and i have been ITCHING to find a way to use them!) - it's light brown with GOLD THREAD woven into it. bling #1.

2) the little hatpin - from Making Memories. i picked up a pack of those on clearance at Michael's. they were marked at 39 cents and rang up at a PENNY! bling #2.

3) swirl of rhinestones (cheapie dollar store kind) on the sentiment. bling #3.

4) the Stickles on my gal's dress. it was already glossy, which was an awesome effect, but i felt that it needed just a hint of POP - hence, bling #4.

so that's how it's done! link up your projects on THIS POST - projects must be created NEW for this challenge, and you must link back to the Dollies in your post! you have until next MONDAY, March 29th at midnight EST to enter for a chance to win a HOT surprise goodie pack from our first awesome sponsor, Scrap-A-Doodle-Doo!

i also have a little sneakie for you. you're SO gonna wanna come back tomorrow for a visit. just sayin'!

there's also a Facebook page, where you can become a fan ('cuz you WILL be, when you see the digis!), and a blog, and this THURSDAY, we have some excitement to share! i can't wait! (bustin' at the seams over here!)

so there that is!

i'm late! i'm late!

i don't have a very important date, but there are some big things going on, and i managed to fall behind with my under-the-weatherness last week, as well as a plate heaped to the ceiling with Things To Do.

today, i'm catchin' up! gonna have to do this chronologically, i think, to avoid getting myself confuzzled. ;)

let's start with THIS BIG NEWS! - WOO HOO! FEATURED! never in a million years would i have thought my sympathy card would show up on their blog! *does a happy Peanuts dance* yeah, that's right - a big ol' tootin' of the horn here! :D

okay, now that's out of the way.... there's also last Thursday's SKETCH CHALLENGE at Design Dollies - another fabulous sketch from the amazing Kristy-Holmes-Dollie:

i LURRRRRVED playing with this sketch, but had to flip it to make it work for my photos:

photos from my parasailing adventure in Cancun, many moons ago! :) believe me when i say the paper did most of the work for me... but the fussycutting and stickling was TONS of fun!

that wrapped up last week's trifecta, which closed last night, but you still have PLENTY of time to play along HERE - projects must be linked up by this Wednesday at midnight EST for your chance to win YUMMIES! :)

then on Friday, we posted the new Ribbons and Rubons challenge at The TownScrapper - some GORGEOUS work from our Scrapettes, and a couple of sneak peeks! yes, we have a bunch of the BRAND NEW Victoria Case stamps already available, but Victoria's been BUSY, and wowing us at every turn. there are LOADS of gorgeous new stamps in production RIGHT NOW, so we have sneak peeks to share! play along with the challenge - there's a GORGEOUS new Victoria Case stamp up for grabs! :)

today, i have a brand new Color Challenge for you at Design Dollies - i had the PERFECT new stamp to use, and couldn't wait to put it to the test! (it didn't disappoint - hooray for $1 stamps at Jo-Ann!)
so... the challenge:

and my card:

is this meditating panda not crazy-cute?! :D
okay, so play along with this one for a chance to win THIS prize:

your project must be NEW, you must link BACK to the Dollies in your blog post, and make sure you link up by SUNDAY, March 28th at midnight EST. :)

and last, but certainly not least, we have a new SHOWCASE over at The TownScrapper - yummy eye candy for all you rubber stampers! i TOLD you there were lots of fabby Victoria Case stamps being released - this is LOLA, and she's brand-spankin'-new! coming soon, ONLY to The TownScrapper!

LOVE her! had to use some yummy BasicGrey and Cosmo Cricket papers for this one, added a bit of mesh from a bag of pink grapefruit, a bow in her hair, some Prima flowers and bling, and a fabulous sentiment from Unity, and VOILA! :)

i'm entering my Lola card for....
the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab - the chair is GORGEOUS, and i was inspired by the colours (brown, cream, red and blue accents), plus the mesh on my card mimics the wicker pattern.
and for Sketch 131 at Mojo Monday (had to turn it and lose the ribbon for this one)

wait till you see the REST of the sweet images our Scrapettes get to play with these days! have a peek OVER HERE today, and see what i'm talkin' about! :D

okay. is that it? (probably not)

PRIZES! TownScrapper contest, Dollies challenge

good morning, folks - not my usual perky self today as i've been hit with another migraine, but it's an exciting day in my computer world!

so.
the first thing to announce is that we're having a contest at The TownScrapper! we have a new name for our design team, a few recent additions to the family, and a new logo. hello, i am a SCRAPETTE! grab the logo from my sidebar and plop it on your own with a link to our challenge blog, and leave us a comment on this post by Sunday night letting us know you've done so. you could win one of the brand new, TownScrapper exclusive, Victoria Case stamps!

it's monday, which means it's SHOWCASE DAY at The TownScrapper! we like to show you what other fabulous stamp and product lines Phebe carries at the store, which can be purchased by emailing her, or by calling 519-882-0623. SOON, however, there will be an online store, so we're going to make it MUCH easier to get these yummy products into your hot little hands!

i made a card for Showcase Monday, using a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp:

this little cutie is "Posey", and i used some beautiful Prima flowers, plus some gorgeous papers from the new BasicGrey Origins line, BasicGrey brads (all of these available at The TownScrapper!) and brown lace trim from my stash. CLICK HERE to see what the rest of the Scrapettes have done! and don't forget there's still plenty of time to play along with our 3-BUTTON CHALLENGE for your chance to win a brand new Victoria Case stamp - a TownScrapper exclusive!
**********************

we're in the process of contacting all of our new Design Dollies contenders, so we will be making the announcement once we've heard back from those we've chosen with their formal acceptance emails. :) this is fantastic - our first team has been amazing, and we've learned so much from them and made some new friends. i hope we're just as lucky for the second term.

next... another brand new challenge is up at Design Dollies! today, i gave you a HOT little colour combo - RED, ORANGE and 1 NEUTRAL.
here's what i did with some yummy BasicGrey paper and Birdie Inspiration stamps from Unity: (i also submitted this one for the current challenge at the CARDS blog - to use birds but no owls)

play along HERE by Sunday at midnight EST (make sure your project is NEW for our challenge, and that you link back to us in your blog post), and you could win this:

******************************

and i wasn't just "working" over the weekend - i got to play a little, too! i saw the sketch and had to get my craft on....
this week's challenge at Paper Garden Projects uses a simple sketch, and i knew i wanted to use these little Wee Sprouts (The Greeting Farm, available at The TownScrapper. here's their simple sketch:

and this is what i did with it:

the papers are DCWV and K & Co., with some BasicGrey bling, My Little Shoebox tiny alphas, and ribbon from my stash. (there's also a teeny-tiny American Crafts REMARKS flourish in the top right corner, but it's a bit hard to see).

i made a couple of other things on saturday chez Adina, but i can't show you yet. :) you should, however, go visit her blog to see the yummy candy she has up for grabs!

with that, i'm off. my kingdom for a NAP...

SUPAH QUICK - Candy Shoppe/Wild Olive Kids challenge!

i only have a couple of minutes, but this was a labour of love yesterday, and i wanted to make sure i got it in before the deadline!

the challenge this week is to "GO GREEN" at Candy Shoppe Designs...

HERE'S THE SPOT, where there is some AMAZING inspiration... the paper clips? yeah, SO borrowing that idea when i wanna play with gesso again!

anywho... recycled goods. i used some corrugated cardboard, the little tree design behind the top part of the title is from my coffee snug, the green mat behind the photo is reused Prima packaging, and the yellow part of the bow and the flower that doesn't belong - reused plastic grocery bag. i will totally be using this technique again, and think i may tweak it in the future. :)

until a little later tonight, when i come back with other stuff to share, here's my layout (the subject is our moving sale, which occurred in August, and there were still traces of the signs on the poles several months later when we went home to visit):

back soon! :) HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ADINA! :)

Dollies and TownScrapper challenges, plus UNITY LOVE

it's friday!
tomorrow, i am heading up to my Dollie, Adina's place for some craftin' fun and to catch up - i haven't seen her since OCTOBER and i've missed her dreadfully! it's also her BIRTHDAY on sunday, and she happens to have some yummy celebration CANDY up for grabs! all you have to do is follow her, add a comment, post the candy to your blog if you like, and play with the Design Dollies for any of our March challenges and let her know you played (each time you play gets you an extra chance, plus if you play NEXT TUESDAY when she posts her Elements Challenge, you'll get THREE more chances!). seriously, she's got some yum to give away, and she's giving everyone a TON of chances to win! well you don't have to do ALL of those things, but they will increase your odds!

now.

THE TRIFECTA awaits you! the brand new SKETCH CHALLENGE is up, and it's NIFTY! so you can tackle the sketch for your chance to win THIS:

or you can combine our challenges this week for chances at the other prizes, TOO! check out what all the Dollies have done HERE and join us! remember - your project must be created NEW for our challenge, and you must link back to our blog post in order to be eligible for the yummy prizes.

visit us MONDAY to find out who our NEW DOLLIES are going to be for the next term - April through June. we've done our deliberating, and we have some emails to send out! :) thanks to EVERYBODY who sent us your applications - the response was totally overwhelming and the decision was VERY tough! but we think the visitors to the Dollhouse are going to be in for a HUGE treat, with all the amazing talent you'll be seeing!

we also have a brand new TownScrapper challenge for you today! not only should you pop over to see what our Scrapettes have done with all the YUMMY new Victoria Case images, but you can catch a SNEAK PEEK at another little treat that's just around the corner! AND if you play along, you can win your choice of the newest Victoria Case stamps, designed for and available EXCLUSIVELY at The TownScrapper!

CLICK HERE to check out our 3-BUTTON CHALLENGE, and see what the very talented Scrapettes have done to inspire you! :)

and while i wanted to make some cards and do a layout last night, something else popped up and i made something for The Son, instead. today is "pi day" at his school, and he needed something for extra credit for math class. i went to AC Moore and bought a t-shirt for a dollar, and came home and made THIS:

the photos aren't the greatest because i had to take them before the fellas left for school this morning (the sun wasn't totally up yet!), but i had a LOT of fun making it! the PI symbol i made from scratch and used a permanent opaque marker for it, and the numbers were stamped using the awesome Just My Type stamps from Unity that i'd won a while back. should i send it to them to show them how versatile the set is? it was PERFECT for this task! (yes, it's supposed to look grungy and imperfect and unevenly spaced, and yes, the numbers are all in the correct order)

how strange when a t-shirt that a mom makes for her almost-17-year-old son is actually well-received, to the point where he claims he'll be keeping it to wear again. :) we'll see if he still feels that way when he gets home, and after i've heard what his friends and classmates have had to say about it.

anywho, there you have it.
lots of work to do today. lots of MAD CRAFTIN' to do tomorrow. and, sadly, a funeral to attend on sunday.

i may be around sunday if i'm able to get any challenges done this weekend, but it's more likely you'll see me on monday. ciao!

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

i decided to bust out the adorable Cupcake Love, from SOME ODD GIRL - aren't they sickeningly sweet?! :)

LOVE them! been playing quite a bit with my new Nesties (from The TownScrapper, and my Fiskars Threading Water punch (been coveting it for a long time, so i'd BETTER get some use out of it!).

new Dollies colour challenge and Some Odd Girl spottings!

since when is MONDAY a good day?
honestly, i'm just thrilled that i had a great day on saturday, and now the weekend is over.

not feeling quite so chatty today, so let's cut straight to the chase, shall we?

here's the new Color Challenge at Design Dollies... the colours:

and here's my card, using the fabby C.C. Designs "Kiki la Rue" image from The TownScrapper:

play along?
here's the new prize package for March:

you rikey?
CLICK HERE to see what my Dollie-sisters have done with it, and to get the lowdown!

i had a great saturday, spending 15 hours hanging out with awesome ladies (one of them being my mother-in-law!), shopping for yummy crafties, and merrily craftin' away. turns out there's a store about 45 minutes from me that does TWO weekend crops per month, and the cost is only $5! they provide breakfast and dinner, and they mark EVERYTHING in the store down for croppers. 40% off everything? yes, PLEASE!

so i worked on some challenges and tried to get myself outside of the box a little...
this is a layout i did for a challenge in my Cafe Mom group - the challenge was to use analagous colours (had a little fun with the photos - is it weird?):

next, for the Get Sketchy challenge #28, to do a shaped card, with the bonus of a spring theme... their sponsor this week is Daisy Bucket, and i was totally inspired by their logo:

so i used a BRAND NEW image from Some Odd Girl, which will be available on March 23rd, and i had a little fun... (the doorknob is even on the left, and the card opens that way)

close-up to show the "moulding" - i've never used any kind of scoring before, so this was kinda fun and new for me! and "frosted" windows!

also playing along with the girls at By The Cute and Girly, 'cuz they want a springy card, too. i think a happy flowerpot with lots of bright colours should cover that, no? :)

next, for the sketch challenge at Just Us Girls, the FAIRIES challenge at Charisma Cardz, and for the Simon Says Stamp challenge at PaperCraft Planet, to use the colours brown, cream and teal - using an adorable Wee Sprout from The Greeting Farm, available at The TownScrapper:

this last one is for the Sketch Challenge #42 at Limelight - and the twist was to use PAINT... so i turned their sketch sideways, used yummy distress crackle paint on my chipboard pieces, and coloured up the ADORABLE Flappity, from Some Odd Girl (this one IS available, and how PERFECT for an encouragement or Easter card?!)

and i do believe that is it for today. at least for now. i got other stuff done, but can't show you until tomorrow! ;)
