this week's CHARISMA CHALLENGE - prizes from Make it Crafty and Pizzazz Aplenty!

okay folks, gonna have to make this QUICK, as it's a crazy hectic week for me here...

it's time for another Charisma challenge! and for your girlie types out there, ENJOY!

this week we're looking for BLING AND SPARKLE!
easy peasy, right? yeah, we anticipate LOADS of entries, so PLEASE be kind to us, and turn off your word verification so we can zip through hundreds of comments a SMIDGEN quicker. thank ya! ;D

okay, my card - a little simpler than usual, but i'm trying a slightly different approach because of a fabby wholesale opportunity that just popped up:

i used the super cute Rainbow Dandelion digi from our first sponsor, Make it Crafty - *swoon* - and glitzed my card up with some shiny gold cord and stickles on the sun, rays, and the lil' drifters on the dandelions... tough to see with crummy lighting, so i apologize for that (not to mention the stickles were still wet!). i'll try to get a better shot and replace this yucky one if i have time tomorrow. :)

so... the deets on our sponsors this week:

Make it Crafty is giving one winner THREE digis from the shop - should be very easy to do, but might be tough to decide!

Pizzazz Aplenty, our second sponsor this week, is a $10 credit to the store - again, VERY easy to find goodies to spend it on, so YAY!

and THIRDLY, DigiStamp Boutique is offering up SIX digis of the winner's choice - AWESOME!

play along by next WEDNESDAY - and show us your blinged out projects, and you could be one of our lucky winners ! CLICKIE HERE to see what the rest of the Charisma Gals have done with this project, and BE INSPIRATED! :D happy craftin', dear friends! xo

Craft Jam rundown

SO much fun today, and while not terribly busy, i still made a profit, made some new friends, got some colouring done, won a print in the raffle, and made CONNECTIONS! first, a woman asked me if i'd be interested in wholesale - she's opening a book and tea shop in Smithville, NJ (about 20-25 minutes from me - they have the CUTEST little shops and a FABULOUS craft fair for Oktoberfest), and says she wants to carry cards but doesn't want cookie cutter stuff. nothing mass-produced, no corporate crizzap. woot! and one of the awesome girls at the neighbouring booth is planning her wedding, and she inquired about custom invitations, so i directed her to my blog to see if she finds anything in her style... i can definitely change things up if need be, so hopefully she finds some ideas that will work for her destination weddin'. :D (HI JESSICA!)

sooooo, i'm going to email the first woman and see what she has in mind, and i hope we can start up a fantastic new partnership! :) and i do plan to stay in touch with the "girls next door", whether by staying in the loop about future craft fairs or planning to attend events together (and sharing a table, if need be). fantastical! :)

there was no roller derby, but the Brawlers were in rare form, skating all around, bringing us brownies, entertaining to no end (imagine a bunch of rollergirls doing the macarena... or the CHICKEN DANCE!), and making all the vendors feel very welcome.

now i'm absolutely plum-tuckered, because i only slept for 3 hours, but it was definitely worth it! if you'll excuse me, i have a small assignment due for my class, and some sleep to catch up on. hope you all had a great weekend! (p.s. - sorry for the photo-less post!)

BACKGROUND colouring at Make it Colourful! Magnolia-Licious is our sponsor!

challenge time, folks! and oooohhh, this was a FUN one! have you visited Make it Crafty yet? have you seen all the AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS scenes/backgrounds that Zoe offers in her store? these are all such fun images, and coordinate wonderfully with all your character stamps...

so this week, the addicts of Make it Colourful want to see you
COLOUR YOUR BACKGROUNDS!

and our sponsor for this round... the fabby Magnolia-Licious! look what Diana is giving away to the lucky winner of this challenge:

HOT, right?! well this is a COLOURING challenge, not just a colour challenge, so bust out your Copics, or your ProMarkers, or your Twinkling H20s or, like me, your Prismacolor pencils, and have at 'er! :) here ya go:

deets - i dragged my pencils across the sky for some fine line detail, and i overloaded the colour and blended lots with white to achieve the mottled, grainy look of sand:

i paired up the Make it Crafty "Tropical Beach" image with Some Odd Girl's "Hula Kaylee", and added some of the gorgeous "swirly corners" - Zoe's laser-cut chipboard flourishes... they are SO much fun! lots of beautiful detail, loads of versatility (i painted mine orange), and many designs to choose from (she has THESE hot new laser-cuts in the shop and i am kinda obsessing).

wanna play along? CLICK HERE to see what the ridonkulously talented Colour Addicts have done with their backgrounds (oh my gosh, this team rocks!), and you have until next Friday to join us for your chance to win that yummy Magnolia die!

(by the way, if you're interested in JOINING the Colour Addicts and helping with the challenge blog, CHECK THIS OUT! trust me when i say that you'd be in VERY good company!)

playing along at The Crafty Pad - their challenge is "use a digi" - i went with two :)

tomorrow is my craft fair! looking forward to checking out funky vendors and hopefully selling my inventory down a LOT, so i can keep making MORE! :D

this one was SO much fun! so many people have embraced this technique, so we want to see you pleat stuff (whatever's pleatable!) for today's Some Odd Girl challenge!

there was a fabby new release earlier this month, and we Odd Girls are LOVING working with them - so cute and cheery and SPRINGY!

here's my PLEATED project, using the adorable BEE TIA:

the yellow ribbon is obvious, but i also pleated some 7 gypsies tape to back my sentiment - i LOVE working with that stuff! MMMM, tape. and they're SUPER easy to pleat! (just sayin' - if you don't wanna use a sewing machine or struggle with the glue part of pleating, tape's an easy solution!)

so you wanna play? first, CHECK OUT THE REST OF THE ODD GIRLS' WORK HERE!
seriously GORJE projects - i love how everyone's got such a unique style and funky flair!

play with us, and you could win TWO digis of your choice from SomeOddGirl.com! might be tough to choose, but if you've never played with SOGgies, you're in for a treat! they are a JOY to colour - very clear and great lines. and each of the characters has its own personality. :) who's your fave?

you have until Tuesday, April 5th to get in on this challenge - PLENTY of time, and you may even be seeing some sneaks of the NEXT gorgeous release, so our winner will have more images to choose from! :D join us!

playing along at the Crafty Calendar Challenge - they want SPRINGY projects!
and Crafty Creations - "In Stitches" challenge - my yellow ribbon was stitched to pleat it

Happy Birthday TEENAGER! new Charisma challenge!

hi Diana, and news!

first of all, does anyone have a silhouette stamp of an old fashioned horse and carriage? or a cartridge for the cricut or slice or sil or whatever that will make one? i need to make 100 invitations for my dad's girlfriend's parents' 50th wedding anniversary and i am in desperate need of some assistance!

okay gang... it's been a WHIRLWIND of a week for me, so i apologize for the lack of real posting (with crafty stuff to show, and what have you), but i wanted to show you all who i met last month (and it just dawned on me that i hadn't posted HERE, but i did post on my Facebook page!)...

hellooooo, DIANA THE FISH! :)
i mean, DIANA FISHER!

she was LOVELY! we had a nice little lunch (albeit far too short) and now i know where i can swing by for a quick stop on the way to or back from Canada! :D

this morning i got my hairs did, partly because i needed it, and partly because i'm celebrating my promotion this weekend! i started the true search for my netbook but am yet to decide what i'm after, and this afternoon i am going to catch up on some coursework and watch a movie that my lovely hubbin rented for me. i MAY try to sneak out for a wee bit to grab myself some more adhesive (my runner is out, and they were SOLD OUT when i popped in the other day to restock), and shoes. no, not at the same store. after that, since i'll have the house to myself tonight, i DO plan on doing a bit of craftin' and preparing for the Craft Fair next saturday at the Roller Derby. :) can't wait!

The Son is feeling better - thank you all for your well wishes! he actually set foot OUTSIDE THE HOUSE yesterday for the first time in two weeks - poor kid had a nasty case of cabin fever! now he's strolling around town with a couple of friends - it's a beautiful day out and the fresh air will do him a world of good.

and that's about it for me... i hope you're all doing swimmingly, and that you're all getting a nice healthy dose of SPRING this weekend! it's wonderful to have the windows open and some fresh air circulating in here. ciao, bellas!

you'll DIE for this Charisma challenge!

okay folks, i'm LATE, and i'm so sorry to be getting this week's Charisma challenge posted nearly a DAY behind...

there's been a lot going on (as you know, if you've read my last couple of posts), and i went to bed early last night with a nasty migraine (which carried through today). so let's just get to it, shall we?

we want you to use your die-cuts (and trust me when i say that there are THOUSANDS of kinds of die-cuts out there, so this should be a breeze!) in a project - remember your post must link back to Charisma, your project must be new (no backlinking), and you have until next WEDNESDAY NIGHT to play along!

here's my project - sorry for the poor lighting (i may have to get used to that, or have to find a nice desk lamp thingy to make life easier):

and a close-up on the funky speech bubble (kinda fun, right?):

i was lovin' heavily on the felt for this one and played a little with something OTHER than my trusty Prismacolor pencils. this time i dabbed a Qtip on my inkpad and "painted" the inside of the image - gave it a slight hint of texture, which i liked. (i have since "painted" a bunch of other images this way, so watch for those!)

okay, so you wanna know what you can win this week?

first, we have 5 digis of the winner's choice from
the fabby Pink Cat Studio!

then we are giving one winner $10 (Canadian funds)
to spend at Digis With Attitude!

and for a third winner, £5 to spend at WhichCrafts? funky online shop!

so hop to it, crafty friends!

and for the record, i HAD to play along at the following nifty places:
Sketch Saturday (i flipped it, but followed it almost to the TEE!)

and Papertake Weekly's Trio-Tastic challenge (3 little flower clusters on my card)

okay, now that i've FINALLY gotten this posted, i'm off to indulge in a little something sweet, in celebration of my PROMOTION! now i'm REALLY out to find myself a nice little netbook! thanks for all the well-wishes, folks - it may have come in handy! xo

crafty items for sale/trade!

i have the following i'd like to sell (ideally) or trade for goodies -anyone interested?

White StazOn ink pad and refill bottle - like new (tried once, didn't ink up the pad entirely, don't like it personally) (retail $9.95)

Autumn Leaves Mindy's Zoo clear stamps (barely used but there's a bit of staining 'cuz i only use StazOn) (retail $12.99)

look - here's what i made:

and this one - made during my first few MONTHS of card making!

(while i'm not keen on monkeys, i REALLY like the little monkey in this set!)

a giant, jumbo, huge assortment pack of My Sentiments Exactly! unmounted sentiment stamps - they have sticky backs so they can easily be stuck on wood, or the sticky back can be peeled so you can mount them with double-sided tape or EZmount - seriously, the pack cost me $20 and there are TONS of stamps (easily over 100) in here for all occasions, all different sizes, including some innies and outies. there are also some background and border stamps in the pack. (individually, these would add up to a lot of money, but i bought them directly through MSE for $20) SOLD

Tim Holtz texture hammer with 4 interchangeable tips and hammer mat (retail $14.99) TRADED

Distress Stickles in the following: 6 pack - Rock Candy, Tea Dye, Shabby Shutters, Tattered Rose, Weathered Wood, Tarnished Brass (heavy plastic shrink-wrapped - retail approx $14.99) TRADED
3-pack - Worn Lipstick, Antique Linen, Broken China (retail $6.99) TRADED

i'll add to this list and update when necessary. it's occurred to me that i just have too much stuff and i really should try to get things under control. :)

leave a comment here with any offers for buying or trading, and don't forget to leave your email address! or feel free to email me at quiteorange@yahoo.com (just be patient, as while i'm trying to clean house a little bit, there's still a ton of stuff going on here)... i will list more stuff soon, but make me a reasonable offer and we'll talk! :D

time to watch a movie with my hubbin. he's been very patient lately, and we've both been super busy, so it will be nice to sit together for a couple of hours (even if i'm quite sure i'll fall asleep on him).

well, not great news...

what a week it's been. i may be somewhat sparse for the next week or so, because The Son has MONO, and it's apparently a particularly bad case, according to the doctor. he's on a steroid for his throat because it's swollen nearly shut and he hasn't been able to swallow or eat ANYthing for a week, and he's barely able to take any fluids. i'm just glad he didn't end up in the emergency room with a feeding tube due to dehydration. he seems to have a BIT more tolerance for liquids, so that's progress, but i swear it took him four full days to finish even a small bottle of water.

needless to say, it's been frustrating around here, trying to tell a 17-year-old that he's not ALLOWED to go anywhere. i'm disappointed because we should be at Tilly's tonight buying the new Travis Barker CD so we can get him in for a meet and greet on the 26th. i wonder if i'll be able to buy it over the phone...

for this challenge, you MUST use a Some Odd Girl image, but with a HUGE inventory of 99 cent images, it shouldn't be hard to find something that will work for you! (and if you've been following us for a while, you probably have loads of our past freebies saved on your computer!)

i saw this little dude and KNEW i had to pair him up with another fave from an older release... please say hello to Artsy Bunny, and his friend, Artsy Kaylee! (click 'em to enlarge!)

just look at his little TONGUE sticking out from concentrating so hard! adorable, n'est-ce pas? :D

and since i seldom decorate the insides of my cards, i thought i'd show you the little deets i added (since i had a strip of this paper left over):

does this card say spring to you? it's got the colours, the flowers, the little bugs, and a couple of happy friends preparing for easter...

what can you do with this one? play along! you could win free digis (FOUR of them for this challenge winner!), or Some Odd Girl LOYALTY POINTS that can be accumulated to earn freebies. before you start creating your fabulous springy project, i must insist that you CLICK,CLICK,CLICK to see what the rest of the Odd Girls have done for your enjoyment (and maybe a little for theirs, too)... be inspired, and then GET YOUR CRAFT ON!

play along by March 22nd with a NEWLY-CREATED project, link back to the Some Odd Girl challenge blog in your post, and you could be a winnah! :)

(and for those of you who are die-hard Some Odd Girl fans - or even casual ones looking to see what we're all about - we've got another DIGI DAY coming up this weekend!)

i used this sketch at Inspirational Card Sketches for my, well, inspiration!

and i created a little spring garden scene for the Die Cut Dreams challenge this week. :)

happy craftin', friends!

Charisma's looking for EASEL CARDS! and i made my FIRST ONE!

okay, you guys should know by now that i'm all about trying something for the first time, right? well can you believe up until last night, i had NEVER made an easel card?! fer realzies!

so i had a panic attack when our Charisma challenge was announced, and i had to try my hand at one of these puppies, but seriously, i had TOO much fun with it!

so for our Charisma challenge this week, let's see you rock the EASEL CARD!

i was happy with my first attempt - here she be:

tell me this isn't the CUTEST bunny image you've ever seen!

he's "Sweet Bunny Dreams", from the brand new Some Odd Girl springy release!

and because i couldn't decide on the BEST way to anchor my
card down, i embellished to my little heart's content:

so the deets... our challenge this week is sponsored by Scrapbook News and Review magazine (who absolutely rock, and not just because i'm on Staff!) - one winner will win a three month subscription to the mag! WOO HOO!

ALSO sponsoring this challenge is none other than Some Odd Girl (tee hee!)... while i do make an effort to showcase our sponsors' images, i'm ALWAYS thrilled when my peeps pair up and i can play guiltlessly! Some Odd Girl will give one winner THREE digis of their choice from SomeOddGirl.com!

and we have a THIRD sponsor for this one! The Stamping Boutique will award one winner FIVE digis of their choice from their shop! so generous! check out their store HERE.

i couldn't help but play along at
Polka Doodles - their challenge is Flower Power! at least 3 handmade flowers... i punched two and doctored the other one up, then just layered the smaller ones, since i REALLY don't use flowers often enough! and...
Simon Says Stamp Challenge - ANYTHING GOES!

new challenge from the Nerdy Girls, sponsored by Candy Shoppe Designs!

okay, it's the 7th of the month, and that means it's NERDY GIRL TIME! yep, new challenge over at Envious (a.k.a. NVS - Nerdy Victorious Scrappers)...

sooooooo, what can you do with this inspiration?

absolutely HOT, right? well, we want you to make SOMETHING that reflects some of the elements or the mood of this collage (brought to you by the lovely Ally!), and show us! play with the colours, or the images, or the words, or the way it's laid out... we aren't fussy - just PLAY!

normally i create a page for my art journal, and occasionally i scrap, but this time i was inspired to make a card. see, i had been eyeballing this stamp for a WHILE, and was totally GIDDY when i saw it for sale as on its own (rather than in a set) during my trip up to Canada a couple of weeks ago. WOOT!

i lurrrrrved the colours Ally chose - that blue is HOT, and the black and white just makes it pop even more! - and the little doodly hearts, and the happy little sentiment, and i even played up the way the photos are framed... here she be:

inspired? well if not by me, then you will DEFINITELY be inspired by our other Nerdy Girls, including the newest addition to our team, Emmeli - she's AMAZING, and a perfect fit for Envious! (Welcome, Em!)

join us and you could win something SCRUMPTIOUS from the fabby CANDY SHOPPE DESIGNS! we can't show you yet what you might win, but trust me when i say that the previous prizes they've donated have been AMAZING. so we have ONE player already (as of Monday evening at nearly 7 pm), and we just need 4 more so we can give one winner a prize! ANNNNND we've still got a couple of empty desks, so you could be the next Nerdy Girl!

i can't believe i've been showing the blogosphere my inner nerd for nearly a YEAR already. where has the time gone?!

playing along with the following:
The Crafty Pad - use RIBBON (oh, boy, did i use ribbon! isn't it GORGEOUS?!)
Papertake Weekly - squeaking in for their Anything Goes challenge (my "something old" is that fantastic ribbon - i swear i've been hanging onto it for nearly three years, though i'm not sure why!)
Creative Card Crew - Gothic challenge (she looks like the majority of the girls who used to go to the club i frequented for more than 10 years - from the fishnet thigh-highs to the short skirt to the corset to the ruffly sleeves - okay so maybe even *I* dressed like that on occasion!)

i'll be back in a couple of days with new Charisma and Some Odd Girl projects to share! :D

Design Dollies - COLOUR CHALLENGE time!

it's been a while since i've been able to do anything with my beloved Dollies, and i thought it was high time i put my mind to it.

we've changed up our challenge formula a bit - instead of doing three challenges PER WEEK, we bring you a colour challenge one monday, an elements challenge the following monday, a sketch challenge the third monday, and the TRIFECTA on the fourth monday of each month. we have a monthly trifecta sponsor who ROCKS (Hi, Shelley!), and we still give prizes for each category, but it's a little less overwhelming for our team and people seem to like it so far. :)

today we bring you another fabby little colour challenge, courtesy of our Karen-Dollie (who's been an absolute LOVE for saving my butt and carrying the torch - THANK YOU, Karen!)...

we want to see
MONOCHROMATIC PINK with a SPLASH of YELLOW! (i'm a big fan of these challenges with a little POP!)

here's the card i put together for the occasion - and please trust me when i say that the large flower (on the patch) really does match the paper and is not remotely CORAL-coloured!

wanna join us? do you play with Dollies? ;) CLICK HERE to go to the challenge, play along by next SUNDAY at midnight EST, and link up your NEWLY-CREATED project with a link in your blog post to the Design Dollies blog, and you could win some yummies i have sitting here waiting for a new home. :) i'm a bit of a crafty shopaholic, so i have some fun stuff to give away!

i decided to play along with The ABC Challenge - P is for Pink!

Saturday, March 5, 2011

new Make it Colourful "SHINY" challenge sponsored by Quixotic Paperie!

mornin', gang! Leah here, nursing one of the worst migraines i've had in a long time (this one's nearly two days in already, and i'm not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel yet), but throwing a new challenge out for you to join in!

Make it Colourful's 9th challenge is LIVE! and we're looking for SHINE! you must colour at least two things that are SHINY in your project - hair, something metallic, silky clothes, patent leather shoes... that kinda thing.

i've busted out one of the BRAND NEW images from Some Odd Girl - ROLLER MAE - and paired her up with the gorgeous Petals and Palings image from Make it Crafty, for this:

don't they go great together?! i was SO thrilled when my Kristy-Holmes-Dollie added this little miss into the inventory, because the craft fair at the end of this month is at the ROLLER DERBY, so i need to have a few of these on hand! Mae has the shiny hair, spandex tights and shiny wheels on her skates, so i've covered all the bases. :)

here's the card in its entirety:

see that fabby little Petaloo flower?

yeah, i've pined for them for a while (dude, they SMELL LIKE CANDY!), and when i got my order from Make it Crafty, i was all too anxious to get my craft on! and OOOHHH, they're HALF PRICE IN THE STORE RIGHT NOW! :)

glad i was able to put this card together before the nasty migraine struck, because i don't know if i'll be able to get much done today. MEH!

anywho, enough of my complainin'... check out what our unbelievably talented team has done with this challenge by CLICKING HERE!

and play along, and you could win a £10 gift voucher from

our awesome sponsor for this challenge! Elaine has LOADS of
amazing goodies in her shop, so that won't be difficult to spend!

clickie to come and play!

playing along this week at Stampin' For The Weekend - their theme is SPRINGTIME, and doesn't Mae look like she's THRILLED that the weather has finally warmed up enough for her to bust out her skates?!

also participating in Stamp Something's March DIGI DAY challenge - it's no secret that i've become more than a little obsessed with playing with digis, so since i used two on this card, i thought that was double the reason i should join in their fun! :)

hope you all have a great weekend - i'm off to do my first assignment for my class!

Charisma with FOUR LEGS!

time for another Charisma Challenge, folks! we had LOADS of fabulous entries for our Black, White and One Other challenge (though some people didn't QUITE get the "one other" thing... we still loved seeing all the projects!), and if you played along, drop by the Charisma blog to see if you were one of the winners!

today, we'd like to see projects featuring
FOUR-LEGGED FRIENDS

i love critters (just not the creepy-crawly kind)! so when i saw this image (thank you, Adina-Dollie!), i KNEW it was the one i wanted to use (not to mention test out some of my colouring skills - i'm TERRIFIED of colouring FUR!). here's my DT contribution:

horrible lighting in here right now, i know!
the inside:

and a close-up of the image - i wasn't mortified by the colouring of the dog, but i definitely have some work to do! i'll just rack it up to this little miss doing a GREAT job brushing her canine pal!

aren't they a cute little pair? :) i just love the stuffed pooch on the floor, too!

anyway, wanna know who's sponsoring this challenge? well i'll tell you!
