my new obsession, and a few challenges

so i saw THIS POST on the Paper Connections blog a while back. and the cards using the strips are fabulous, but i HAD to try the ones with the grid patterns, because i'm forever looking for ways to play with my scoring board. (i implore you to CLICK THE LINK! you will be glad you did, unless you find you're suddenly unable to put your 7/8" square punch down!)

SO.

i decided to kick it up a notch, and realized that Susan Opel had, indeed, created a monstah! i am obsessed. here's the proof:

i used scraps. and more scraps. and then i still had some pieces left over and couldn't let those teeny triangles go to waste! i LOVE this technique. the scoring is a breeze, and depending on the look i want to achieve, i can pretty much mix and match just about any ol' scraps and be happy with the result. i couldn't tell you who makes all of the scraps in here, but i know there's some Cosmo Cricket, K & Company and My Mind's Eye. no idea what else. :)

so for this card, i played along at
Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog - "Thanksgiving/Thanks" (i think the pears add a nice, almost festive, touch)
Creative Card Crew - Thankful
Crafts and Me - "Simples" - no embellishments (heck no!)

and then there's this one... a slightly different approach with the dark cardstock, and fun to tinker with:

loads of goodies to be found in here... some BasicGrey (Mellow and Origins), K & Company, Prima... the white stitching seemed like the only sensible thing to do to make everything pop.

this one's for the challenge at:
BasicGrey - Mix and Match (using multiple lines and slappin' 'em together)

and then i thought, "why not play a little more?", and so i played, and i played, and i played. i'll share the others later, but lemme tell ya, it's bloomin' ADDICTIVE.

so you can see, i'm occupying my time and gettin' on with the crafties, thank goodness. tonight, however, will be on the rough side, as we are picking up my sweet Miss Ophelia's ashes from the vet. my husband made a beautiful urn in which to keep them, so she'll be coming home with us tonight and her spirit will live in our hearts and our home forever.

take care, friends. xo

  1. Leah, your patterned grids look wonderful! You're right, NO embellishments needed. So glad to see your entry at the Crafts and Me Digi team's "simples" challenge. ~ Rose
