there's a new sketch in town at Paper Issues!

hey chickens!
who doesn't love a sketch?

it's time for a new one at Paper Issues, and this one is based on a sweet and simple page by Lisa Dickinson...

i used a bunch of the These Are The Days collection from Webster's Pages because holy heck, the color of my Gram's shirt!  not an easy one to match up!  there's some prettiness from the We R Memory Keepers Clearly Posh collection in there, Kaisercraft's Shine Bright, plus alphas from Simple Stories, and some subtle sticker action from Echo Park...  here's my page:

ZOOMs for some details:

THOSE ACETATE PIECES.  and those VELLUMS.  so gorje!

here's our sketch!

and here's the inspiration from Lisa, created for Elle's Studio.

CLICK HERE to see all of the inspiration from the Paper Issues Creative Team, and link up under the photo in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} group, and you'll be in the running to win one of two gift cards to the Paper Issues shop!

and, um, there's some seriously HOT new product in the shop.  just sayin'.  remember the code...

Fletch in the sketch! Pretty Little Studio inspiration

evening, chickens!
okay, so it's midnight, and i've been crafting the afternoon away.  i saw the sketch challenge for April at Pretty Little Studio and i knew just what i wanted to do, and just what photo i wanted to use.

Fletcher B Cat is a big, lazy glug.  yep, that's a word.  ;)  when he snoozes, he SNORES.  sometimes in the night he wakes me up because of his loud breathing.  it's kind of endearing, but mostly it's disruptive.  still, i can't get upset with him because he just loves being loved, and when he's not sleeping in his roost, he's napping in any one of a half-dozen boxes we keep around the house just for him.

here's my big fella, waking up after a nap, and likely getting ready to take another:

here's the sketch!

i pretty much stuck to the sketch but changed the left flags to arrows because i liked the extra movement they created on the page.  the flags, arrows, tab, feathers and label are all from Pretty Little Studio's Neapolitan collection (seriously, LOVE this!) and i added in just a couple of little details and called it a day.  loved working with the sketch!

zoom, because LOOK at that face!

zoom - modelling paste and glitter (kind of a new thing for me)!

i have a goal to try incorporating little bits and pieces from my older stash on just about every project, so this little star is an old BasicGrey woolie and i'm happy to see it go.  :D

and that's all she wrote, folks!  i'll be back in the morning with another critter page.  hee hee.

a scrappy page, inspired by a Chic Tags sketch

been a LONG time since i did a scrapbook page, chickens.  feeling rather melancholy but inspired, and when i saw the sketch challenge at Chic Tags, the page started to form in my mind.

the photo is from a professional shoot we had before one of our shows back in 2008.  it looks grainy - it's supposed to.  it was for a press release/poster and the retro/vintagey thing worked well for us.  so.  2008 was the end of the beginning; i was performing less and less and he was doing his own thing, and then it went a little wonky and i dropped out entirely.  i've tried since then to get back into it, but i just don't have the same passion as i did.  it was fun while it lasted though, and we had some AWESOME gigs around the tri-state area.  i'll always have fond memories!

so.  the paper is from Heidi Swapp and i threw a stencil down and sprayed some Pinstripe Mister Huey's on there and smudged it around a bit.  punched my circles from the Chic Tags Bookworm paper (from their Happy Place line), worked in some CT Happy Place phrase labels and an Everyday Life II Icon circle, plus a foldy tab that came in one of my CT grab bags.  added that to a hot little woodgrain journal card that came in my Paper Issues Swag Bag (currently sold out, but WATCH FOR ITS TRIUMPHANT RETURN!), added my title and a corner accent, and dropped some sequins from THIS MIX and voila.

behold, some deets - stencilling, smudging, snips and sequins:

and more - us:

the woodgrainy journal card, decked out with tags, tab, alphas and such:

and those bits, all put together:

i usually do bold, graphic and bright, and this is definitely a step away from that, n'est-ce pas?  but it tells its story, and that's what i was after.  here's the awesome sketch off which my page is based:

and now i'm off to make a card and work on some DT assignments.  how's your weekend, chickens? wanna grab some of the goodies i used on my page?  CLICK HERE to visit the Paper Issues shop and use this for a sweet, sweet deal:
