What the #@!$%& - new Paper Issues link party!

hey there, chickens!  there's a new flair party in town, and Paper Issues knows where it's at!  you're invited!

our theme is "What the #@!$%&" and there is SO much you can do with it!  punctuation, typewriter keys, typed journaling, scripty writing, numbers, exclamation (WOW! SHEESH! YIKES!), money, texty abbreviations (LOL, WTF, BRB, etc...) - you catch my drift, right?  :)  or use Feed Your Craft product on your page.  link up and be sure to link back to Paper Issues and you might win!  you might also be featured on our Facebook page, or our Instagram feed, or on the Paper Issues blog as one of our Fan Featured Friday friends!

this issue is sponsored by Feed Your Craft, who are all about awesome flair, and there are 3 packs of flair from their shop up for grabs for the winner of this issue!  we also have a discount code for you - use code PAPERISSUES15 now through 12/31 to save 15% off your entire order!  they have LOADS of fun stuff, including this neutral ampersand (of which i would like 100 more!) and book text, which is perfect for anything!

i combined some of the Teresa Collins "Something Wonderful" elements (including the title from the pack!), some goodies from my December Swag Bag, Jillibean Soup enamel stars, some Fancy Pants ephemera goodness and my trusty Dymo label maker.

those apples?  yeah, they were MAILED TO ME.  by my bestie, Kristy, who hand-picked them in Michigan when Honeycrisp season started last year.  when i opened this huge box to find apples inside, i cried like a baby.  love you, girl.  like whoa!

so, link up!  join in the fun!  your projects can be new or old, but you must link to us!  CLICK HERE to check out the Paper Issues "What the #@!$%&" linky party and see what the rest of the awesome Creative Team did with this one...  we LOVED using the Feed Your Craft flair, and we know one lucky winner's going to be loving it, too!

Paper Issues is getting their NAVY on!

new issue, chickens!  Paper Issues has a brand new link party and you're invited!  this one's sponsored by the super fantabulous Echo Park Paper and they are offering up TWO collection packs to one lucky winner!

i created a card for a friend who just had a baby boy, and i was SO excited that the theme of the baby's room is all nautical cuteness.  here's my card:

i threw down some paper from Bella Blvd, added in some alphas from Doodlebug (and the tiny ones from my stash), and wood and cork bits from Studio Calico, then some burlap trim from Maya Road and twine from The Twinery

you wanna play along?  link up your projects that follow the theme (they can be NEW or OLD, as long as you link back to the Paper Issues blog!)...  go for some blues in your project, an aquatic or nautical theme (sea creatures, boats, beaches, marinas, the beach, cruises, water, etc.), military subjects, bath time or showers, use water on your project (i.e. WATERCOLORING!), something 4th of July related or anything using Echo Park products!  seriously, we don't mind how loosely related it is, we just want you to share!  CLICK HERE to see what the Creative Team did for this issue, and have FUN!

oh, and if you haven't already grabbed it, the July Swag Bag is available HERE.  AND a bazillion awesome new products (some are even nautical-themed!) like these:

and my code, as always, will save you some big bucks (that can be spent on more crafties!):

linked up for the May 11th issue, too!  because STARS and what better way to get one's party started than with a brand new baby boy?  :)

i busied up and got my BOX on, and put some cute gift boxes together for the many occasions that are coming up this summer - we have graduations, babies, birthdays and friends missing friends, so it's time to get some creative gift wrapping on! here's my little montage:

told you i was busy!  i used my Ultimate Tool from Crafter's Companion for all of the box templates, busted out a couple of 12x12 sheets of Ruby Rock-it paper for the two shaped boxes and embossed and covered each panel with patterned paper from their Color Fusion line.  here's my first box, featuring the super sweet Clever Kittys clear stamp set, along with a (partial) sentiment from Make a Statement clear stamp set , and two Ruby Rock-it flowers layered over some ribbon to finish it off:

love this little mouser and couldn't help but add the punny little sentiment!
next up, box #2, featuring the gorgeous Scooter Mae digi stamp:

i went light on the embellies here as i wanted to give Mae the proper attention - see that cute teal circle embossed paper though?  i LOVE it!  it's a nice heavyweight cardstock and i want a hundred sheets of it!

and last, but not least, this ridiculously sweet couple is a little clear stamp sneak peek...
meet Milk and Cookies!

isn't the heart detail for the box closure COOL?  and i'm totally loving the sentiment!  these dudes are ridic.

and them's my boxes!  OH, and the backs:

ALL Ruby Rock-it paper, all Some Odd Girl stamps, ALL tons of fun and fabby little things will live inside the boxes later!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Some Odd Girl wants to play TAG!

new challenge at Some Odd Girl, folks!  we're opening it up for a little TAG action - you can create anything that uses a tag (or that IS a tag, in fact!), as long as it is NEW and uses a Some Odd Girl image or cut file (or both - whatev!)...

my tag today features the super gorge Rainbow Fairy (digi), along with some embossed chevrons from Make a Statement (clear) and clouds from Sunny Mae (also clear)...  i NEVER bust out my embossing powders, but i inherited a TON of them when my mother-in-law gave me all of her crafties, so i figured i should probably get in there!  anywho, here's m'tag:

added in some Webster's Pages trims, twine from The Twinery, along with some yummy Tiny Text from Cosmo Cricket (because i CANNOT get enough of them), flair from Scrapmaster's Paradise, doodled and DONE!  :)

here's my gal up a little closer:

we've got a new issue, folks!  but we ALL have issues, right?  well for this we're looking for anything that follows the theme "Shiny and New" (interpret however you'd like!), but we also have a sketch if you'd like an extra push.  NOT necessary to follow the sketch!

how to win some Heidi Swapp Color Shine

simple.

link up to our Halloween Party at Paper Issues, 'cuz that's our current issue!  the Paper Issues girls DO have Halloween Issues!  :)  some might say we've gotten carried away.  ;)  personally, i love it, and hey, if by getting carried away with us, that means you might win something FAB, then so be it.

so bring it on!  i'm not sharing a Halloween project right now, but showing you the a sampling of the GORGEOUSNESS of the prize you can win:

the burlap was frayed and messed up and sprayed first with the Navy Color Shine, then i laid my bottom panel down in the pool of blue that was on my craft mat.  next, i masked the letters and sprayed White Color Shine on top for contrast and to mute out the background but keep that fabulous blue shimmer.  i traced the letters with a white gel pen, and the snowflakes were sprayed with the Citron Color Shine for pop.  :)

check out the SHIMMMMMMMAH:

i love the marbled vein throughout!  of course, trying to capture the shimmer in a photograph is challenging, but ERMAHGERD, this stuff is HOT.  you NEED it.  you WANT TO WIN IT!

link up HERE and this whole set could be yours!

and if you just want to grab them for yourself, plus any other goodies available at the Paper Issues store, i've got a sweet deal for you!

Designed to Color on WORLD CARD MAKING DAY!

hiya!  okay, so it's officially HERE, and has been for the last 2 hours, but this girl's about to go to bed, so she can get up all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready to get her CRAFT ON!

right now, however, we are CELEBRATING!  Designed to Color has a fabby little hop for you, complete with visits to a bunch of our designers' blogs, gorje eye candy along the way, and little tips and tricks for your card making whims.  :)

today is officially World Card Making Day! an opportunity to celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family. a day to connect with fellow card makers everywhere, to applaud the creativity that powers the craft, and to provide resources that will empower, inspire, and encourage cardies in their hobby. it’s also a time to get a jump-start on the holiday card-making season!

we, the Color Crew at DTC, have decided to celebrate this special day with an awesome Blog Hop!! along with a few special guests, we have whipped up some goodies and are sharing them with you along the hop.  please leave a comment on each designer’s blog and then a comment at Designed To Color to let us know you have completed the hop. one random winner will be drawn for a prize package consisting of goodies from various sponsors including:

(and more!)

you have until Monday, October 7th, at 11:59pm MST to leave a comment on each blog. visit the Designed to Color blog on Wednesday, October 9th to see if you're the winner!  happy hopping, happy crafting, happy WCMD!

Here is the blog hop order:

GUESTS from The Stamp Doctor:

annnnnnd here's what i made for the occasion:

closer:

image is CC Designs, colored with my Prismacolor Pencils, sentiment is from Clearly Wordsworth, papers are from Studio Calico and... something else.  die is from My Favorite Things, inks are Memento Copper and StazOn Black Cherry, accents are Fancy Pants and Colorbok.  i went minimal, and i have to say that this image has been colored for AGES before i finally added it to a card!  my tip to you, crafty chickens, is when you PRE-color an image (or go on a mad coloring binge, like i did!), go for lots of neutrals and EASY colors that can be matched up later.  it's no fun digging out an image to find you have NOTHING that matches the crazy color scheme you chose.  if you know you have lots of red in your patterned papers, go for reds with greys, browns, tans, etc.  EASY to find a match!

and there you have it!  we hope you are inspired to create something special for World Card Making Day. if you do make a card, and especially if you use one of the tips provided by our designers, please stop by the Designed To Color Facebook Page to share your creations. we would love to see them!!

later, chickens!  :)

more Sheena Douglass beauty from Crafter's Companion!

okay, i'm having altogether WAY too much fun with my Spectrum Noir Re-inkers, and i don't know what the heck took me so long to just bust them out and start playing!  i've had the tools for a long time, but i think i was a little intimidated by the Tim stuff - little did i know, there are LOADS of ways to use them and make stuff pretty, without being an alcohol ink genius.  :)  i certainly am not, but lately i feel like one!

i'm sharing a card i made using the Koi stamp from the new Koi and Waterlilies set from Sheena Douglass' "A Little Bit Oriental".  the entire line is available HERE - there are gorgeous stamp sets, lovely embossing folders, and a paper pad that's just stunning and totally versatile!

i LOVED colouring this koi.  and i LOVED playing with my little eyedroppers.  here's what i used:

High-Gloss Cardstock
Spectrum Noir Ink Refills GB6 and BT6 (with a smidge of BP3 that was leftover on my foam), plus just a couple of drops of blending solution
StazOn in Jet Black (for the sentiment and around the edges)
Koi from Sheena's A Little Bit Oriental "Koi and Waterlilies" stamp set
Koi coloured with Spectrum Noir markers: OR1, OR2, OR3, GB2, GB3, GB6

and that's it!  added some ribbon and a couple of little embellies, plus my sentiment, and this card just kind of happened!  i love playing with the re-inkers - you never know what it's going to look like, and you can make it as light or pale as you like with lots of ink, or less ink and blending it around the page more.  in this case, i used the entire sheet, although that wasn't my initial plan!  happy little surprises.

okay.  so GO HERE to check out my BLOG HOP POST!  you have until tomorrow night to hop with us at Crafter's Companion and you could win the Sheena set of your choice from this gorgeous new release!  :)

It's the TIMELESSLY ODD HOP! Twine meets Tweet!

***CLICK HERE for the Friends of True's Inky Blog Hop!***

GOOD MORNING!  :)
Do you know what today is, chickens?  It's the one we Odd Girls have been waiting for!  Glad you're here!

The Twine-istas and the Odd Girls are happy to welcome you to their first collaborative BLOG HOP!

Some Odd Girl and Timeless Twine decided to get together for a little playdate, and we are SO pleased you've joined us! We hope you'll find plenty of inspiration as you make your way around to all of the designers' personal blogs, and be sure to leave a little love at each stop along the way, because there are THREE gorgeous spools of Timeless Twine and one $25 gift certificate to Some Odd Girl up for grabs! Our hop, now being lovingly referred to as "The Timelessly Odd Hop", runs now through Sunday, March 17th at midnight EST, so you have plenty of time to make your way around the circuit. It's a big hop, 'cuz we have TONS of amazing designers who were absolutely excited to combine their love for all things cute, quirky, clever, and crafty, so take your time and ENJOY YOUR JOURNEY!

We did that whole product swap thing, and I was SO excited to get me a big ol' roll of Pumpkin Orange and White twine for me to do with as I choose...  So I chose...

I used Tweet Kaylee, and paired her up with the banner stamp from the Make a Statement clear set, plus the "SMILE" stamp from the Everyday Smiles clear set, and proceeded to fill the letters in!  :)  I had some fun punchin' and threadin' and distressin' but stuck with a relatively simple layout to properly showcase Kaylee with the Timeless Twine.  :)  This card was a LOT of fun to make!

Here's my gal Kaylee, all blown up and coloured in Prismacolor Pencils:

But we're not going to ask you folks to MAKE anything (although we wouldn't dare stop you from doing so!)... We just want you to visit all of the stops along the way and let yourself be inspired!  Just remember to leave a comment at each stop, and visit us at the Some Odd Girl blog at the usual time on Monday, March 18th for our announcements!  Good luck, everybody!  :D

hop graphic

You should have made it to the Chronicles by way of Twine-istea Kristy...  BUT, if you've just dropped by randomly and haven't been hopping from the beginning, here's how it's all going down:

So there's your hop list! From here, you're off to visit the totally quirky and utterly LOVELY Lou Mac!  You don't have to visit everyone in order, but you do have to visit EVERYONE if you want to win the goodies!  Just say hi, leave 'em a little love, and you're in the running! And that's your cue, friends! Our winners will be announced on Monday, March 18th. Happy hopping, and GOOD LUCK!
