oh my crafty goomie!

such excitement over here!
let me FIRST share the yummy new COLOUR CHALLENGE at Design Dollies - we have some LOVELY earthy projects to share with you!

the colours:
KRAFT, IVORY and GREEN

i made this with the new prompt at The Creative Type in mind - Using Type in your Embellishments.

lovely sheet music paper (courtesy of Lauren) and the vintage ad paper on the lower half of the card (a piece of the bag which encased the purchased loot that fateful day) from THE GREAT HAUL. random bits of things were cut from magazines, including the Arkansas license plates, the passport stamp, the postage stamps and the elephant. OH, and papers crumpled and smeared/sprayed with distress ink in Vintage Photo. then the whole darned thing was Mod Podged to seal the bits and make it nice and glossy.

i cut up my Unity rubbah alphas and inked 'em up for the very first time. a LONG time ago, i was given this blanket that had strip of fabric tied around it, and i've been using up small bits at a time. that thing must have been 8 feet long. "journey" is stamped on the "ribbon" with Olive Green StazOn, and that awesome little ampersand clip was yet another sweet find from THE GREAT HAUL,

Brads are from K & Company. the arrows are Grungeboard pieces, first painted green with acrylic paint, then stamped with a french script and distressed with the StazOn, then Crackle Accented, like the elephant. and the cardstock is a piece of an old file folder. i am recycle-y!

WHEW!
is it too busy?

so ultimately, it's for today's Color Challenge at Design Dollies (you, too, can play along for a chance to win!), but the colours spoke to me, and warranted a project for The Creative Type.

i also did a page for a challenge in my CafeMom group... i must have been on a mission to use stuff up, because i interpreted the challenge a little differently than others. :) it calls for 20 pieces of patterned paper, and 20 pieces of metal. clearly, i was getting scrap-happy, because the challenge doesn't specifiy 20 DIFFERENT patterned papers! HA!

a big thank you to Melanie for the lovely package of goodies she sent me, including the star charm i used here and a handful of others! :)

the story behind this page has to do with Adrian Belew (of King Crimson fame) and an album he did called "Young Lions" (he and i seemed to be the only ones aware of that album's existence). back in our courting days, the hubbin asked me, by way of a note scrawled inside a little pad of paper with that picture of the lions on the cover, if he could be my young lion. sappy, right? i think he looks rather... feline, in this picture.

i'm thinking i'm missing something, but it's probably because i've been posting like crazy and attempting to multitask, but failing miserably. i'm sure i'll be back. :)

  5. Maybe you need to embrace your own style, because I really love it! I always wanted to try to use more layers, but it never worked out the way I imagined it because my style is clean and simple.. I think you have a similar problem here! Your creations are gorgeous the way they are, believe me!!! Love the way you used the charm on the bow!

    Hugs!!
